I’m a finance major at UNCP who's completely on my own financially. Despite driving for Uber whenever l'm not in class and working as much as I can, l'm struggling to save enough for post-graduation housing while keeping up with current expenses. I'm so close to finishing my degree, but I'm facing this impossible situation where I need a place to live to accept the entry-level finance jobs I'm applying for, but I can't afford the security deposit and first month's rent without help. What I need: $2,700 for apartment deposit ($800), first month's rent ($800), moving costs ($200), emergency fund for the job transition ($500). I've tried everything - extra shifts, selling textbooks, applying for every scholarship out there. I'm not looking for a handout, just a hand up to get me across the finish line so I can start my career and eventually pay it forward. Even $5-10 helps more than you know.
